Google AJAX Search API ready for Android

Google yesterday announced they have replaced the word “website” with “property” in the AJAX Search API Terms of Service.  By doing so, suggesting the API can be used on Android apps.  Hmm, just a week ahead of the September 23rd Android Conference.

User Interface Review: Flip Video Ultra Camcorder

Interested in a camcorder with a 2x zoom, 60 minute video capacity and a 2 hour battery?  Did I mention the video’s max resolution is 640×480?  Sounds like something straight out of 1984.  Yet, for the thousands who have purchased the Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder and helped make it the hottest video camcorder on the market, the answer is yes! Unlike other camcorders that promise you a camcorder capable of filming the next Oscar winning movie, this camcorder does one thing…  it captures web quality video, and it does it better than any other camera.  Sure other camcorders will give you a better picture, but this camera’s killer user interface makes it easy enough for any person to use.

Looking like something Apple would design, this camcorder has three primary buttons.  Play, Record, and Delete, that’s it.  What else do you need?

With its built in usb connector, this camcorder is ready for plug and play.  The only thing missing are the messy wires.

Here’s a shot of the front side if your interested.

Target store redesign

Below are a couple design changes I noticed while at the new Target store in the District mall in Tustin, California.

First thing I noticed was the redesign of the IN symbol located above and on the automatic doors at the store’s entrance.  Excellent choice of color and shape, similar to a traffic light.  The IN symbol is welcoming and easy to spot.

Some UI is more important than others, this one in particular was one to take note of.  especially with the Ocelot pacing around his cage about 2 feet away from me.

The World Famous San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo is truly a marvel of Off Web UI greatness.  It’s ergonomic at every junction using simple to understand sign-age and paths.  Unlike many other “theme parks” the San Diego Zoo not only has to direct you to the attraction you’re looking for, but also pass along a wealth of information, including safety warnings, animal facts and preservation efforts.  Although it’s a lot of info the presentation is seemless and un-intrusive to parks landscapes and attractions.  If you know what you want to see you can pretty much find your way without ever opening a map of the park.
